fight for global warming

Global warming

Global warming is the term used to describe the gradual change in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and thereby causing a permanent climatic change. Global warming is responsible for the disruption of nature's balance by generating continued heat waves, and the sudden occurrence of storms and floods.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that, “human influence has been a dominant cause of observed global warming in mid-20th century”.

Global warming cause:

1.Greenhouse Gases:

It absorbs and emits radiant energy and cause a greenhouse effect. The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (Co2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide, and ozone (O3).

Greenhouse gas emission deplete the ozone layer

2.Fossil Fuel:
The burning of fossil fuel for coal, gas, and oil produces around 35 billion tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. CO2 is a source of greenhouse gas emission and causes global warming.

3.Intensive Agriculture:
Farming through intensive agriculture system increases the yield of crops to ensure food security but also leads towards exploitation and degradation of natural resources. Studies show 25 to 30% greenhouse gas emission is due to intensive farming.

It highlights the attention towards the exploitation and degradation of natural resources.

4. Deforestation:

The destruction of trees is also responsible for climate change. Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere when deforestation takes place, the ratio of CO2 increase in the atmosphere and cause greenhouse gas effect.

Global warming Effects:
  • Increasing the average temperature of the earth.
  • Change in ecology system including increasing the sea level and modify the pattern of rainfall.
  • Unpredictable climate changes due to global warming cause drought in one area and floods in another.
  • Various new disease has emerged.
  • Increase the risk of marine life.
Global warming prevention:
Though climate change is a big problem, but developing nations are heavily industrialized as compared to developing nations and release more greenhouse gases and cause depletion of the ozone layer. It is the need of an hour both develop and developing nations should join their hands to take a step towards reducing global warming.
  • Renewable energy resources like solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal.
  • Conserving electricity e.g. using CFL lights instead of normal bulbs.
  • Recycling disposable product.
  • Planting trees.
  • Using paper bags instead of plastic bags.
